Skincare for Back-to-School
Aug 04, 2021
August is here, and so is back-to-school. Where did the summer go? In just days, you reunite with classmates and friends, but there's still plenty of time to get great skin before the first day.
Whether you had a lazy summer and broke out or just want to look amazing and put your best face forward, we’ve got you covered. Read below for tips on getting your skin back-to-school ready.
Keep Your Hands Clean
We touch our head more than we realize, so that gives dirt the opportunity to migrate from our hands to our face. So, keep your hands clean and don’t touch your face without first washing your hands. Also, make sure to keep anything that regularly touches your face, like cellphones, clean too.
Keep Your Face Clean, Too
Even with clean hands, environmental factors like dust and pollution make it impossible to keep your face completely clean. And, teen skin produces more oil due to hormones. To clean off the oil and more, wash your skin at least once daily with a cleanser that won’t strip the skin of its moisture - a gentle yet effective one like Prep U Foaming Daily Face Wash. Also, if your skin gets extra dirty or oily, it’s better to wash twice a day and certainly before going to bed.
Out with the Old: Exfoliate
About twice a week (but no more), make sure to exfoliate after washing your face with products like Prep U Charcoal Face + Body Scrub or Hydrating French Green Clay Face + Body Scrub. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the top layer of skin and rejuvenates the skin by enabling new skin to rise to the surface.
Use the Right Anti-acne Products
The teenage years can be rough on skin. One minute you have smooth skin, and the next, you could be suffering from zits. Acne can be unpredictable and can happen to anyone. The best way to avoid blemishes is to get to them before they get to you by popping up on your face. When blemishes occur, after washing your face, make sure to use the right product, like a Blem Pen, to control zits. The Blem Pen will target the zit without drying out the rest of your face like other anti-blemish products.
Control the Oil
As mentioned earlier, teen hormonal changes may mean oilier skin. And, the extra oil on the skin makes for a blemish breeding ground. Regular face washing may not be enough to prevent oily skin, so be sure to blot during the day with special blotting tissues, sheets, or cloth to help keep oil under control.
Keep Your Body and Skin Hydrated
It's important to have hydrated skin and a hydrated body to keep your face looking fresh. (The only things on our face that should dry out are zits!!) Summertime heat can dry out skin, so as you savor the final days of summer, keep your skin hydrated with moisturizing products and load up on lots of water, too!
