Soccer Locker Room Stinks

Noah Schreiner | Brand Ambassador

Truth. As a soccer player, I can attest that the locker room stinks.

After a game, whether it’s cleats, clothes, or gloves, everyone’s equipment smells to high heaven. However, we, as athletes, are around this stench all. the. time.  I’m not sure if years of exposure have dulled my sense of smell, but admittedly, it seems most of us tend to ignore this byproduct of our blood, sweat and tears.  However, as we progress in our sport and in life, we have situations that arise where our after-smell isn’t exactly welcomed by other friends, girlfriends and of course our families. We go to parties, friend’s homes, dinner with the family and yeah, it’s obvious we just lost about 5 lbs of water weight in today’s game, but do I need to smell like it? That answer was a resounding “No” and I started looking for something that could help me fight that good fight.

Prep U | How to get the soccer stink out

Let’s start with public enemy #1; my cleats.

This isn’t something that’s an isolated problem that perhaps only a few of us have. It’s every soccer player. I was told that the Prep U Active Dry Powder would do the trick.  Although it's primarily used on the body, a nice side benefit of the product is that you can use it like shoe deodorizer.  I’m skeptical of most things like this, but I gave it a shot. I just poured some in my cleats and Boom!, the powder not only absorbed into my shoes, but it also killed the smell. I decided to spread a little on my shin guards and even my socks. I was hesitant to do this because I didn’t want white powder all over my shin guards. But like I said, it absorbs quickly and the best part, it didn’t cake up on my socks.

Awww...the pain.

The other thing that comes with the territory of being an athlete is soreness. Pre-season training, mid-season play, post-season workouts, whatever time of year, I feel like I’m sore a majority of the time. The thing is, as athletic or fit as most of us think we are, I can tell you with a high level of confidence that we are not immune to soreness. Lucky for me, my connections at Prep U introduced me to their Sport Bath Soak; a combination of Epsom Salts and great smelling essential oils. I introduced the soak to my training regimen and it seemingly alleviates my soreness so I can continue to go hard the next day. Besides the muscle-soothing benefits, the other thing that’s great about their soak is that it’s really easy to use.  You just grab a packet, rip open the top and pour it in a warm bath. Single-use packages so you don’t have to measure or use a cup, because believe me, when you are about to soak out your latest muscle pounding workout, the last thing you want to do is think. So check them out. This skeptic is convinced.
