Good First Deodorant for Boy
Finding a good first deodorant for your boy will take some trial and error, and what is right for one tween or teen may not work for the next. Prep U has a solution or two that are well worth your consideration.
Prep U was launched in Austin, TX, by founder and CEO Michelle Houp, mother of two active boys, who was seeking all-natural, high-quality personal care products for boys ages 8-17 that could guide them through the transitional years between toddler and adult.
Prep U products are made without parabens, dyes, sulfates, aluminum, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, genetically modified organisms, nanoparticles, or gluten. They are also not tested on animals. We only select ingredients from companies who do not test on animals, and when we are in the process of developing new products, we only test them out with human volunteers.
Safe, Natural Deodorant for Boys
Body odor is common in children and teenagers, especially when they are going through puberty. This is normal. To ensure your son is using an effective, safe solution, we recommend an all-natural deodorant such as:
Prep U Natural Deodorant: Aluminum and paraben-free, the deodorant is safe for everyday use and tough enough to handle the most rigorous activities.
Prep U Charcoal Deodorant: Activated charcoal contains a naturally porous surface and serves as a magnet that binds to bacteria and toxins and draws them out.
Prep U deodorants are packed with only ingredients you can pronounce and find in nature. They are good for sensitive and regular skin and are effective at keeping odor at bay while making your son smell fresh.
Ingredients to Avoid
When choosing a good first deodorant for your kids, avoid deodorants and antiperspirants that contain the following ingredients.
- Aluminum: Most often found in antiperspirants, this is the ingredient that is responsible for yellowing the underarms of your white shirts. It may also interfere with hormones and increase the odor-causing bacteria on your skin, leading to more pungent-smelling sweat. Aluminum stays in the body and accumulates over time.
- Triclosan: This chemical has been banned by the U.S. FDA in hand soaps, but is still used in many deodorants to kill odor-causing germs on the skin. Studies suggest that it may contribute to early puberty, obesity, and infertility.
- Parabens: These are artificial preservatives that can be absorbed through the skin and have been linked to cancer. They are thought to interfere with the way the body produces and regulates hormones and are suspected to be endocrine system disruptors.
- Propylene glycol: This substance was originally developed as an anti-freeze. It is often used in antiperspirants and deodorants as a moisturizing agent and to improve absorption. It has been shown to be a skin irritant and to cause allergic reactions, even in tiny concentrations.
Prep U makes a good first deodorant for a boy that won’t irritate his delicate skin or dose him with harsh chemicals. Our products will help him feel more confident and make cuddle time a sweet-smelling affair, even after a soccer game! Contact us online for more information.
