Deodorant or Antiperspirant?

Many people use the terms deodorant and antiperspirant interchangeably, or believe they are the same thing. But there are important differences between them.

Antiperspirants stop or dry up perspiration by blocking pores with the help of aluminum salts. Deodorants curb body odors caused by sweat by covering it up with fragrance or antibacterial compounds.

At Prep U, we are proud of our award-winning deodorants. Prep U Natural Deodorant is designed for teen boys. Instead of using chemical agents to fight armpit odor, we use a combination of essential oils to combat the problem.

Good Hygiene 101

While introducing your son to deodorant, it wouldn’t hurt to remind him of some hygiene basics that will help control odor beyond deodorant.

• Bathe daily; let them choose a body wash or other product they would like to use
• Shower following sports and other sweat-producing activities
• Wash all body parts, including the more smell-prone armpits, genitals, and feet
• Wear clean clothes, underwear, and socks daily
• Choose loose-fitting, breathable clothes that may prevent sweating so much
• Watch what they eat in case something like garlic, onions, or spicy food is contributing to the body odor
